Why this can matter in Muslim-majority destinations

In a number of Muslim-majority countries, hotels and other accommodation providers may request clarification of a couple’s relationship status at check-in or during a stay, in line with local rules or standard procedures. Having relationship information presented in a clear, structured document can help when such questions arise.

What ResMi Pass provides

ResMi Pass states that you are travelling as a couple and records the relationship status you declare, such as married, cohabiting, or engaged. It also links the declaration to the trip by stating your destination or destinations.

What information is included

The document includes details for both individuals, including first and last name, date of birth, email address and phone number, as well as a passport number or national ID number. It can also include the date the relationship began, if relevant.

Signatures and witness verification

ResMi Pass is signed by both individuals in the relationship. Two witnesses aged 18 or over also sign to confirm that they have verified the couple’s signatures. This provides a clear record that the signatures have been checked.

Traveller responsibility

Travellers are responsible for checking the rules and documentation requirements for their destination and trip, including entry requirements, stay conditions, and accommodation rules. ResMi Pass is used as supporting documentation when relationship status is requested.
